In the span of two years, the recent release of the new QBANK App has completed a major digital transformation project that has also seen QBANK launch a new website and an upgrade for their online banking platform.

With the acknowledgement that in order to stay competitive and relevant in today’s rapidly evolving financial services market, and to retain and grow its member base, QBANK renewed its contract agreement in late 2020 to expand its service offerings with the launch of the App in February 2023.

As part of the decision to invest further in the Ultracs Ecosystem and integrate more digital software solutions in the technology suite for the 25,000 strong (and growing) member base, the Ultracs CMS became the logical foundation that would help deliver on all the digital banking touch points in demand, and reinforce the brand in a cost effective and efficient method.

A digital strategy for growth

Other driving objectives that QBANK viewed as imperative in its investment decision making was the ‘digital bundle upgrade’ that released ‘bank on the move’ member self-service functionality and increased digitisation and automation of banking processes from account opening to member authentication.

The process

A core project team was formed in early 2021 who’s role was to develop a plan and through gated stages implement the various project tasks, actions and key milestones.

The project team possessed the right digital and technical expertise across Ultradata’s Digital and Consulting Services teams and included QBANK’s Marketing and Information Technology teams.

This joint project team collaborated to decide how to progress their digital strategy and launch, and in which order, with project delivery impact benefits being;

  • A new Ultracs CMS website with new look and feel
  • A revived UI and UX through the integration of My Viewpoint 3
  • An upgraded mobile banking App using Ultracs App 2

Gate stage one

Ultradata and QBANK decided to deliver the project in three stages to better manage each product launch and give QBANK the time needed to test the software solutions methodically to assure its quality assurance.

The logical first step for QBANK was to install the Ultracs CMS before commencing any of the other digital installations. Built on the latest release of Ultracs CMS, QBANK launched their new member and externally facing website on the 7th of June 2021.

The Ultracs CMS is the epicenter of the wider Ultradata digital ecosystem which includes the Ultracs App 2 and Onboarding Form digital interfaces.

The CMS benefits

Aside from serving as the foundation for QBANK’s digital banking capabilities, the beauty of the Ultracs CMS is that it allows financial services organisations to manage operations with minimal staff from the one place in a very cost-effective way;

  • A more efficient and effective method to manage brand, brand consistency and brand positioning – for multiple brands
  • A centralised CMS to manage all the digital interfaces and their respective channels
  • One platform to manage the digital user experiences for all externally facing customer touch points
  • An agile base to scale up quickly, and offer more banking services to members in the future through increasing speed to market
  • Full suite of marketing and communication management capabilities to manage marketing content and product information such as interest rates, legal disclaimers, etc

As is often the case in double handling when using various third-party products, Editors need to only login to Ultracs CMS once to make a content change and apply it across all the chosen digital channels.

The centralised product management capability is also very beneficial in mitigating risk as it reduces human error and prevents content change being missed in any one place. The Ultracs CMS intelligence maps the information across all the digital channels as it customises the content to device scale and its parametres.

Gated stages two and three: My Viewpoint 3 and Ultracs App 2

With QBANK’s information technology infrastructure in place, the organisation was ready to begin working on the second and third stages of the project.

As a leader in adopting progressive digital banking technology, QBANK’s active collaboration assisted significantly in making My Viewpoint 3 what it is today, and only three months after the Ultracs CMS website launch, on the 28th of September, QBANK launched their newly upgraded internet banking platform.

The My Viewpoint 3 upgrade was a key focus of QBANK’s digital transformation and as the second Early Adopter Client, they were heavily involved in the development of My Viewpoint 3 release 3, and were Ultradata’s second client to launch this version.

The third gated stage in the digital banking overhaul was to launch a new banking app.

QBANK was also the Early Adopter Client for Ultracs App 2 release 3 and on the 23rd of February 2023 were in a position to deliver its members a newly minted user interface and vastly improved user experience that included simpler workflows, more animations and intuitive interactions.

QBANK also launched several other new app capabilities that were like for like from the previous app version but provided the depth that consumers seek today including;

  • Quick and secure login options using a four-digit pin, pattern log-in or touch ID
  • Card controls for extra security with the ability to lock a lost or stolen card on the spot
  • Savings goal to track savings progress as a personal finance management feature
  • Password reset
  • Secure messaging (with an option to turn it on or off)

The Project Team’s involved thoroughly enjoyed working with QBANK on this large and very significant project, and we wish to thank QBANK for the trust and faith they invested in us, and look forward in continuing our partnership for years to come.
